Create Windows 7 Bootable USB Pen Drive | Easy step-by-step guide 2024

Windows 7 Bootable USB Pen Drive Step-by-Step Guide

Rufus makes it simple to turn a USB drive into a Windows 7 bootable disk. Please be aware that Windows 7 is an outdated operating system, and if at all feasible, switch to a more recent version of Windows that is more safe. However, if you must continue with Windows 7, here is how to use Rufus to make a bootable USB:

Requirements:

  • A USB flash drive with at least 4 GB of storage.
  • Windows 7 ISO file.
  • Rufus software (downloadable from https://rufus.ie/).

Steps:

Get the Windows 7 ISO file from a trustworthy website.

If you haven't already, download and install Rufus.

The USB flash drive should be inserted into a computer's USB port.

Double-clicking the executable file for Rufus will launch it.

Make sure the right USB device is chosen in the "Device" dropdown in the Rufus window. If you choose the wrong drive, all of the data on that drive will be lost, so use extreme caution.

Navigate to the directory where you saved the Windows 7 ISO file by clicking the "Select" button under the "Boot selection" column. Choose the ISO data.

Based on the ISO file you chose, Rufus will automatically determine the file system and partition layout. Most likely, it will be set to "MBR" GPT".
